First innings win for Gurukula

Gurkula Vidyalaya, Kelaniya recorded a narrow five runs first innings win over formidable Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Pannipitiya in their inter-school under-19 cricket match played at Surrey Grounds, Maggona.

Resuming at 104 for 4 in reply to Gurukula total of 166 Palians were all out for 161 runs and Namal Pathum was the chief wrecker for Gurukula with 4 for 44. Ashan Jayashanka was the top scorer for Palians with 39 runs.

In their second essay Gurukula batted on till the close of play and they were all out for 237 with Hashan Duminda scoring 88 runs and Himasha Liyanage captured 5 for 53.

Gurukula: 166 and 237 (Nipun Maduka 20, Janith Pramod 23, Nalin Perera 24, Hashan Duminda 88, Kasun Madushnka 31, Roshan Anuradha 27, Himasha Liyanage 5 for 53, Shan Perera 2 for 21).

Dharmapala: 104 for overnight - 161 all out (Ashan Jayasekera 39, Himasha Liyanage 36, Prasan Rathnayake 36, Namal Pathum 4 for 44, Lahiru Chamara 2 for 23, Hashan Duminda 3 for 27).
