Kusal passes 500-run mark

Prince of Wales' College Skipper Kusal Mendis passed the 500 mark for
the ongoing first eleven cricket season when he notched up a magnificent
114 runs against formidable and more fancied Ananda College, Colombo in
their inter-school under-19 cricket match worked off at Ananda Mawatha,
Colombo.
Kusal who was unbeaten on 60 when Cambrians resumed the day two went
on to complete a masterly knock which included 14 fours and one six
facing 113 balls and occupying the crease for 153 minutes. Incidently
this is his third century for the season.
Resuming at 98 for 1 in reply to Ananda total of 263 for 5 declared
Cambrians were all out for 248 giving Anandians a first innings win of
15 runs. Kusal's lonely battle was no avail as the lower order batsmen
failed miserably. Ashen Mendis contributed 40 runs while Shammu Hashan
claimed 7 for 79.
In their second essay Ananda batted on until the close and they were
250 for 7 with Danuka Madushan scoring an elegant 93 runs and Thaveen
Dananjaya made 50.
