SML Frontier Automotive Chairman Sumal Perera and Sheran Fernando consolidate their new partnership.

SML Frontier Automotive launched

The newly formed SML Frontier Automotive (Pvt) Ltd, jointly owned by Sathosa Motors PLC and Sheran Fernando was launched recently.

The chairman of the new company, Suma Perera said the investment by Sathosa Motors PLC is in line with the company's strategy of creating a pool of renowned automotive brands. At present Sathosa Motors PLC (SML) is the sole agent for 'Isuzu' commercial vehicles in Sri Lanka and getting the Land Rover dealership is part of a series of steps taken to realise synergies and revitalising its operations, he said.

The strength of Sathosa Motors behind Land Rover will enable the brand to expand in Sri Lanka. The proposed assembly of the durable Land Rover Defender in Hambantota will make this legendary vehicle available and affordable to a wider spectrum of the market. Sathosa Motors will create a regional outreach for the brand through a branch structure, which is in line with its envisaged regional expansion plan.

"It is a new beginning for Land Rover with SML Frontier Automotive, with new product offerings in the pipeline. The new Range Rover Sport will be launched in the last quarter of 2013," said Chairman, SML Frontier Automotive, Sumal Perera.
