'Commentaries on Living IV'
 |
One of the exhibits |
An exhibition of photographs of Angelo de Mel, organised by the
Indian Cultural Centre, Colombo in association with the Tagore Society
of Sri Lanka will conclude today at the Indian Cultural Centre.
The exhibition will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Angelo de Mel focusses more on the spiritual side of human life. He
counteracts where all human activities have been converted to
digitalisation. In photography nowadays the computer has more or less
become the photographer.
Although this is technologically much easier and feasible than the
old technology of films and processing, it is a sad but very obvious
fact that human values have often been sacrificed for the sake of sheer
technical acumen, making the photographer a slave to technology.
With this background the Tagore Society of Sri Lanka, in association
with the Indian Cultural Centre presents "Commentaries on Living IV" the
6th solo exhibition of eminent Sri Lankan photographer Angelo de Mel.
The title of the whole series of photographs is taken from the books
of the same title by the great Indian philosopher J. Krishnamurti.
