Avoid sports after flu - Health Ministry
by Carol Aloysius
The National Hospital authorities have warned students against
participating in sports, especially those needing strenuous activity
such as a marathon, while running a temperature or after a viral flu.
Deputy Director, Accident Service, Dr. Cyril Silva said, “There’s a
viral flu running around now. After a viral flu attack, it is possible
for a person to get myocarditis which affects the heart muscles.
While only one percent may develop this condition, we strongly advise
students taking part in such events to refrain from doing so.
They should instead stay at home and rest till they recover fully to
avoid complications,” he said.
