Liberty Plaza to be revamped
Colombo Land and Development Company PLC has signed a deal with the
Board Of Investment (BOI) to invest Rs. 600 million to revamp the
Liberty Plaza shopping complex in Kollupitiya.
"This proposed project intends to undertake a huge refurbishment
process in the near future which will convert the Liberty Plaza to a
world class shopping mall as well as an icon in the Colombo city," said
a statement issued by the BOI. Under the revamping program, Liberty
Plaza will get an additional 20,000 sq.ft. of retail space, additional
car park and refurbishing and extension of the existing facilities such
as escalators.
Liberty Plaza will also build a a pedestrian pathway around the
complex with features such as urban verandas and coffee shops.
The company also plans to install manual advertising holdings on the
façade on the side of R.A.De Mel Mawatha.
"With the proposed lighting, the building will definitely have a new
look, like malls in Singapore or Hong Kong. This will be the highlight
of the development", announced the BOI.
