the finishing touches |
Kiara started at the age of four at the Sapumal Foundation and in
2008 joined the Hardy Centre of Art where Rhuani Rambukwelle encourages
and inspires her pupils to use imagination and skill through different
media. Just like her older sister, Anya too started painting at the
Hardy Centre of Art at the age of four where 'Aunty Rhu' encourages her
to develop her own style of painting.
Anya loves to play with clay and create fun sculptures while Kiara
loves to sketch and paint on a wide range of topics. Their talents were
further encouraged at Ladies' College where students are free to explore
and learn about art through exhibitions and projects.
Shyami Dodanwella, the girls' grandmother, an artist herself who used
to paint with her late husband Mohan as members of the Young Artists'
Group. has played an integral part in cultivating and encouraging the
girls' artistic talents. She has created a studio for the girls at her
home to enable Kiara and Anya to spend many hours' together painting and
creating beautiful works of art.
Dilhan Abhayaratne, the girls' father says "We are excited about the
upcoming exhibition as we've always told Kiara and Anya to follow their
passion. As parents, Anushka and I are happy to support them with their
artistic pursuits."
When asked about the exhibition, Kiara s and Anya exclaimed excitedly
"We can't wait for everyone to see all the paintings we have done. We
hope they will love it!" The exhibition is an opportunity to experience
the true innocence and beauty of art through the eyes of two little
girls. |
