Indian rupee slumps to record low:
Central Bank takes precautions
The Central Bank (CB) has taken precautions
mindful of the adverse impact of the sharp devaluation of the Indian
rupee. According to the CB, the Sri Lankan rupee appreciated by 20
percent against the Indian rupee from January to August 30.
Appreciation during this month alone was 10.75 percent.

Call to reduce duty on vehicle imports
The Ceylon Motor Traders Association (CMTA) in
its 2014 Budget proposals has called upon the government to bring
down the age limit to import used cars from two to one year and
commercial vehicles from three and half to two years, CMTA,
