Puthra Samagama on Sept 7

The Colombo Chapter of the Alumni Association of the University of Peradeniya will stage Dr. Jayalath Manorathne's Puthra Samagama on September 7 at 6.30 pm at the New Town Hall, Green Path, Colombo, sponsored by the Bank of Ceylon.

Apart from Mano, Chandani Seneviratne, Rathna Lalani, Janaka Kumbukage, Sampath Tennakoone, Sarath Chandrasiri, Somapala Pathirage and Susil Wickramasingha will play supporting roles.

Special service on Sept 8

A special service on spiritual experience will be held on September 8 at 10.30 a.m. at the Cathedral of Christ the Living Saviour, Bauddhaloka Mawatha Colombo 7.

The speaker and Minister will be Dr. Vijaya Corea who will pose the question: What is your understanding and experience of the Kingdom, the power and the glory, if you were to say to God "it is Thine".

The Service is open to the public.

OGA of SBV get-together

The Old Girls' Association of Samudradevi Balika Vidyalaya (SBV), Nugegoda will hold a meeting to discuss the program for the School's centenary celebrations in 2015, followed by a get-together on September 15 from 9.30 am to 4.00 pm at Hemantha Reception Hall, Station Road, Udahamulla.

The 50th annual Esala Maha Perahera of Walukaramaya, Kollupitiya, will parade the streets on septemebr 14.

Newton Guneratne on ITN today

The former Chairman of Rupavahini, ITN and Lakhanda Newton Guneratne who was a relief announcer at Radio Ceylon way back in 1963, will be featured on ITN today, at 10.00 pm.

He was the first electronic media personality who served as an ambassador representing Sri Lanka, in Myanmar.
