Crossovers galore in Central Province

A large number of UNP supporters in the Kandy district met
President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Deputy Minister Abdul Cader's
residence recently and pledged their support to the UPFA. The
picture shows a section of the UNP supporters with the

A large number of supporters of the United National Party (UNP) in
the Kandy district joined the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) recently
when President Mahinda Rajapaksa visited the area.
Many UNP stalwarts, from the Kandy area met the President at the
residence of the Deputy Minister of Environment and Renewable Energy
Abdul Cader in Gampola, and pledged their support to the President and
the government.
Deputy Minister Cader speaking about the mass defections from the UNP
said “They are thoroughly displeased with the party leadership and its
prevailing state of affairs.
Some have even vacated their posts held in the UNP and sought
membership with the Sri Lanka Freedom Party”.The Deputy Minister said
the UNP today has become destitute with its members joining hands with
the government to support the development goals.
“The UNPers in the Central Province are joining the government in
large numbers.
The UPFA will definitely record a landslide victory at the upcoming
elections” he said.
