Gazette soon on user fee for Colombo-Katunayake expressway

The Ministry of Port Development and Highways will shortly issue the gazette notification regarding the user fee for vehicles using the Colombo-Katunayake expressway after its opening on October 27 by President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Secretary to the Ministry Ranjith Pemasiri told the Sunday Observer.

He said that the Ministry is now finalising the fee to be charged from vehicle owners using the expressway and will launch awareness programs to educate motorists on how they could use the expressway, within the next two weeks.

“Fine tuning of the systems are now being done to prepare for the opening of the expressway on October 27”, he said.

Initial estimates indicate that nearly 15,000 vehicles will use the expressway daily to reach the Katunayake International Airport and other destinations.
