People's Bank celebrates Avurudu
The People's Bank which introduced Avurudu Ganu-Denu to the banking
and financial sector in 1973 celebrated its 41st year of Avurudu Ganu
Denu at branches and service centres islandwide. As the Avurudu dawned
on a Poya day, the Bank held this important national custom on the day
following Avurudu, on April 15.
The Avurudu Ganu Denu program enabled all Sri Lankans and the bank's
customers to be part of this important Sri Lankan tradition by taking
part in the customary New Year 'financial transaction' with a reliable
financial partner.
On this day, the Bank offered an array of banking services to
customers including opening of new accounts and making deposits into
accounts while affording them the opportunity to receive a special
Avurudu Ganudenu Savings Certificate which entitles them to attractive
gifts in keeping with the value of their deposit.
Customers who save Rs. 50,000 will be entitled to receive a pressure
cooker at the maturity of their deposit in one year while those saving
Rs. 25,000, Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 5,000 will be entitled to receive an
electric iron, a flask and a wall clock.
All customers were presented a ten-rupee coin on a betel leaf and
treated with traditional Avurudu sweetmeats. |
