Plea to increase allowance for In -Service Instructors

The Opposition leader of the NWP-PC J.C. Alawathuwala, has forwarded a proposal to the NWP-PC to increase the travelling allowance paid to In Service Instructors of the NWP Education Department.

These teacher instructors are paid only a monthly allowance of Rs. 1200/- and that amount is inadequate nowadays compared to the cost of living and other expenses.The present rate of allowance was approved more than 10 years ago and hence this rate has to be revised taking in to account the present trend.

The opposition leader said that Central Provincial Council now pays Rs. 2,500/- and the Southern PC pays Rs. 2,000/- to these instructors. The North Central Provincial Councils pays Rs. 3,000/ while the Western PC pays Rs. 2,500/ to their teacher instructors monthly.

Taking these into account, the NWP-PC opposition Leader requests the NWP-PC too to increase the travelling allowances paid to these hard-working teacherinstructors.
