Govt allocates Rs. 750m for sports complexes

The Ministry of Sports will construct 475 new well-equipped stadiums in the country covering all Divisional Secretary areas under the Mahinda Chintana concept. Minister of Sports Mahindananda Aluthgamage said that Rs. 750 million would be invested in this massive project.

"We hope to finalise this massive sports development project within a short period. We will be able to create talented sportsmen and sportswomen who can compete at international sports competitions in the future.

All rural talented sportsmen would be able to show their inborn abilities at national and international sports events after undergoing training at these newly-built stadiums in the future," said Minister Aluthgamage speaking at a Youth Conference held in Kurunegala recently.
