Rs. 30 million to provide water for NWP schools

A recent survey conducted by the Ministry of Education-NWP-PC has revealed that there are 182 remote government schools in Kurunegala and Puttalam Districts that have no water facilities. Students and teachers undergo many hardships.

The NWP Chief Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara has allocated Rs. 30 million to provide water facilities to these schools during this year.

Fifty wells would be dug at 50 schools with the help of past pupils and well-wishers on a voluntary basis. Ten leading business organisations in the NWP have consented in supporting the NWP Chief Minister to make this effort a success, a Senior Zonal Director of Education in Kurunegala said.
