New houses for shanty dwellers

Over 1,750 families in the Kurunegala district don't have permanent dwelling places and live in temporary shanties amidst hardships.

Most families that live in temporary shanties don't have any land of their own. They lack drinking water, sanitary facilities resulting in health problems and diseases very often. Taking this trend into account, several NGOs and State Organisations have launched housing projects to overcome the need of shanty dwellers.
