The fourth ODI between Sri Lanka and New Zealand was rained off with
the home team reaching 75 for 3 in nine overs after the match was
reduced to 24 overs. The match itself started after a near four-hour
delay due to rain and wet ground conditions.
New Zealand had moved to 75 for 3 at the time the match was abandoned
with Martin Guptill and Ross Taylor dismissed.
Guptill hit three sixes off Dushmantha Chameera to plunder 26 runs
off the third over of the innings.
Then Sri Lanka struck back to remove Tom Latham caught behind off
Thisara Perera.
Guptill fell leg-before to Nuwan Kulasekara.
Chameera returned back into the attack and took the wicket of Kane
Williamson. Taylor hit three leg-side fours off leg spinner Jeffrey
Vandersay against a visibly slippery ball before rain set in.
The five-match series stands at 2-1 in favour of New Zealand with one
match to play at Mount Maunganui on Tuesday. |
