Progress in peace front

Ranil Wijayapala and Asanga Warnakulasuriya reporting from Galle

The Government intends to invite all political parties within the next few weeks to ascertain their stance on the peace negotiations with the LTTE, President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga said at the Sri Lanka Freedom Party 53rd anniversary celebrations held in Galle yesterday.

Rs. 10m job racket

Police have commenced investigations into a large number of complaints from youth in the Kalutara district of a massive fraud of over Rs.10 million where the youth have been reportedly cheated of jobs to Italy and Korea by a close confidante of the former Labour Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe, investigators told the 'Sunday Observer".
