Talking point: Maho the man

Latterly, 'Mahoshada' - the Mahinda Chinthana bashing column, has been moved from the main pages of a Sunday newspaper and has been appearing erratically.

We all thought that there was a special contract with the Editor of that newspaper to portray Mahoshada as the Chintanya of the 'leader in waiting' of the UNP. We thought the penmanship was of that the leader in waiting himself. But with high profile publicity for Mahoshada through the main section of the paper -- one day under the heading Economics, the next under Features and then under Politics (....and when the going gets tough, even in the middle pages) its moot whether all this will come to an end ?

The real 'Mahoshada,' Jim Robertson - the under employed American, and one time highly paid economic adviser - has been well looked after with sizzling INGO funding from the Pathfinder Foundation controlled by the 'leader in waiting'.

Thanks to Sri Lanka's liberal visa policy and media freedom, a foreign consultant can still persevere in this country without so much as a work permit and bash the government in power, while piling the bucks and leading a comfortable life with a Viet inamorata.
