WCA league tourney starts tomorrow
The annual National League tournament of the Women's Cricket
Association (WCA) will be more important this year as the selectors - A.
R. M. Aroos (Chairman), Gulam Razick, Muttiah Devarajah and Daya
Munasinghe will pick a pool of 24 players from which 16 players will be
named for the National squad to tour India and of the year to play in
the Asia Cup tournament.
The Women's Cricket Association 'A' division will start tomorrow
(Monday) with Rajaratna CC meeting Kandy Ladies Club on the Kandy Campus
grounds, while on the same day Slimline Sports Club will take on Palink
Sports Club on the Moors Sports Club grounds.
The other 'A' division matches are: Colts Ladies vs Kandy Ladies at
Kandy Campus grounds on Sept, 12, Young Women vs Slimline S. C. on Moors
S. C. grounds on Sept. 12, Rajarata C. C. vs Palink S. C. at Thurstan
College grounds on Sept. 13, Slimline S. C. vs Kandy Ladies at Kandy
Campus grounds on Sept 14, Young Women vs Kandy Ladies on Sept. 18 at
Kandy Campus grounds, Rajarata C. C. vs Slimline S. C. on Sept. 18 at
Moors grounds, Rajarata C. C. vs Colts Ladies C. C. on Sept. 19 at Moors
grounds. Young Women vs Colts Ladies C. C. on Sept. 21 at Thurstan
grounds, Colts C. C. vs Slimline S. C. on Sept. 22 at Thurstan grounds,
Palink S. C. vs Kandy Ladies on Sept. 23 at Kandy Campus grounds, Young
Women vs Palink S. C. on Sept. 25 at Moors grounds, Colts C. C. vs
Palink S. C. on Sept. 26 at Moors grounds.
The 'B' segment of the Nationals will be worked off before the end of
September.
In the Asia Cup tournament, besides Sri Lanka, the other countries
that will play are: Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. |
