NIIT and uk Open University, forge alliance
NIIT, has forged an academic alliance with one of UK's largest
universities, The Open University (OU). NIIT, which offers IT programs
in over 30 countries will make available the Open University's degree
program, B Sc (Hons) Computing and its Practice through its education
centres in seven countries including Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Botswana,
Ghana, Indonesia, Nigeria and Vietnam.
This Open University degree program builds upon the study that
students would have completed with NIIT. According to President of
NIIT's Individual Learning Business G. Raghavan, "This alliance further
builds on the academic validation of NIIT programs and brings The Open
University's globally accepted qualifications to NIIT students, in their
own country."
The Vice-Chancellor of the Open University, UK, Prof. Brenda Gourley
said, "In our ever changing and interconnected world, this alliance
provide an opportunity to address the growing need for trained IT
professionals in many countries.
The unique combination of NIIT's global experience and delivery model
with the OU's distinctive competencies in supporting open learning
globally gives the alliance great potential to make a difference in the
world of higher education." This relationship opens up opportunities for
students to provisionally enroll for The Open University's degree
program while seeking admission for programs of study at NIIT.
The NIIT program will be evaluated by the Open University to ensure
its equivalence to 240 points of UK study. Upon successful completion of
the program, students will be allowed entry to the 'Top-Up' degree
program. |
