Two Audi models launched

The Audi Models - A6 and A4 were launched by Senok Automobiles Pvt Ltd, the sole agent in Sri Lanka for Audi vehicles, at the Senok showroom, Colombo-5.

The Audi A6 reveals its character at the very first glance with distinctive lines and dynamic look. New approach have been redefined. The visual promise the A6 makes is therefore clear.

Audi is setting a new benchmark in the executive class: the latest generation of the A6 is a saloon that is aiming for leadership in its segment through outstanding driving dynamics and high technology, superior comfort and a wide range of equipment.

The new Audi A6 thus makes a clear pledge to an outstanding role model: the Audi A8 already lauded by the press and the public alike as the sportiest car in its class. And now, given the sum total of its features, the A6 is setting out to leave all its competitors far behind as the most progressive car in the executive class.

A new face

Right from the start in the design and configuration of its body measuring 4.92 metres in length, 1.86 metres in width, and 1.46 metres in height, the new Audi A6 visibly set new signs. The lines of the car combine that clear architecture so typical of Audi with key elements of the brand's progressive design.

The classic proportions of Audi's sports saloon with its low-slung row of windows and the coupe-like roof line is now elevated to a new level of excellence: the contours of the upward-curved shoulder lines and the powerful, sweeping motion of the dynamic line above the side sills give the entire body of the car a forward-moving, dynamic appearance.

The powerfully rising centre section on the engine compartment lid symbolises the performance and muscle of the new Audi A6.

Seen from the front, the trapezoidal single-frame radiator grille clearly characterises the A6 as a representative of Audi's latest model.

The most advanced headlight technology, as an option the new A6 is the first Audi to come with adaptive light, reliably guiding the driver around bends on the road in combination with the high-power xenon.

The new Audi A6 also makes it quite clear that this is an entirely new generation. The high and wide centre console with all controls and instruments within easy reach.

Brake System

The brake system is carefully matched to the engine characteristics, the power and performance of the new A6 in general and to the individual models in particular.

The brakes are operated via a dual rate servo giving the driver a sporting, firm feeling for the pedal and allowing excellent dosage of the brakes.

Safety features

All new Audi A6s come with the latest electronic stabilisation program, ESP 8 developed by Bosch. This highly sophisticated system comprises ABS brakes with electronic brake-force distribution EBD and hydraulic brake assist which automatically provide efficient control as the foundation for enhanced ESP safety.

Unmistakeably Audi: the new generation of the A4 and A4 Avant once again exhibit the brand's typical design features. Their sports character is immediately visible at first glance.

The ratio of the large, clearly shaped body surfaces to the flat, equally bold strip formed by the windowa are significant. The discreetly rising shoulder line accentuates a powerful, dynamic stature, even when the car is stationary. Clear proportions, the gentle curve of the roof, the striking, visibly flared wheel arches: even its silhouette immediately identifies the new A4 as a genuine Audi.

4x4 Jamboree - outdoor adventure

The annual 4x4 Jamboree was held recently at Raigama, Bandaragama in a 30 - acre private land. An adventure track was laid out for 4x4 driving from simple ruts to a mud hole, up hill "Khambi" holes and a 30 degree climb of 20 ft high. Incessant rains from the previous weeks had made the track a fine cocktail for the ultimate mud enthusiasts.

This event was open for the members of the Four Wheel Drive Club - Sri Lanka. Members were allowed to accompany limited number of guests who had similar interests in adventure, freedom, go anywhere do anything who likes to enjoy the outdoors in line with the Club's year around activities.

For the fresher, Jamboree's concept clearly spelt out what outdoor adventure is all about. Here, the members with the family, guests put up their tent on the lake front, enjoy the adventure with 4x4 driving and the novelty this year was the introduction of kayaking in the lake.

Toyota Coaster for easy driving

Superior driving control means greater safety. Hence designers and engineers at Toyota worked together to make the Coaster an easy vehicle to drive.

In the cockpit area, numerous user-friendly features contribute to the driver's control of the vehicle. Controls were given rounded shapes and instruments were made easy to read.

Large Switches were placed according to frequency of use and the lighting was refined for ease of visibility and reduced eye strain.

Since driver comfort is also vital, the driver's seat reclines over a large arc and slides along a 140 mm track to provide ample adjustment. It is carefully shaped and padded to allow hours of fatigue free-driving.

Toyota made the power steering system light to the touch at low speeds and more responsive at medium to high speeds, ensuring an ideal steering free throughout the entire driving range.

The Coaster is the product of advanced Toyota technology and a total commitment to strict quality standards. Every component from the lustrous body finish to the linings of the brake is designed with an eye towards performance.

The diesel engines were developed with Toyota's advanced engine technology and feature overhead valves an undercut on the No. 2 piston ring to reduce oil consumption and high precision oil level sensors.

The gasoline engine features four valves per cylinder and a DoHc design for high power as well as balance shafts for smooth quiet operation.
