Rights watchdog violates human rights of Lankan cricketers and fans
A world known human rights organisation is making use of the current
ICC World Cup cricket tournament in the Caribbean, targeting the Sri
Lanka team's matches in the all-important Super Eight second round to
strengthen their campaign? Calling for international human rights
monitoring mechanism to be immediately established in Sri Lanka.
The so-called human rights watchdog has launched the controversial
public campaign to coincide with the ongoing 16-nation mega event.
It is sad that the international HR group is making use of an
international sporting event of this magnitude to achieve their ulterior
motives.
Though they show that they are protecting human rights, it?s the very
same organization that has violated the human rights of Sri Lanka
cricketers and its supporters.
Sri Lanka cricketers have a right to concentrate on their crucial
games, rather than being disturbed by malicious campaigns of this
nature.
Why is this organization abusing human rights of Sri Lanka cricket
team, and its supporters under the guise of international human rights.
Nobody would give amnesty for international crimes of this nature.
The organisation?s offices in Australia, Britain, Bahamas, Bermuda,
Trinidad, India and Nepal, including politicians and a handful of so
called celebrities, are organizing events to mobilize public and
political support for the deployment of international monitors. The
organization is collecting signatures from fans at Sri Lanka matches on
specially designed foam cricket balls and taking part in public
activities to raise awareness about human rights.
It's the duty of the World Cup organisers to chase those extremists
out of the match venues and protect human rights of Lankan cricketers
and their supporters.
But the biggest Joke is that the organisation's claim that their
campaign is not aimed at Sri Lanka cricket.
These campaigns would mentally affect the cricketers. Sports fans and
cricket lovers in Sri Lanka and world over have urged the HR group not
to spoil the sports arena to achieve their ulterior motives. |
