PMCC dominates

CHESS: Paul Morphy Chess Club (PMCC) registered an impressive win at the Super League Chess Championship, conducted by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL) at Royal College.

PMCC (24/30 points) placed ahead of their closest rivals, Vishy Ananad Chess Club (16/30) by a massive lead of 8 points to win the event with a round to spare. Third place went to Passed Pawn Chess Club (15.5/30).

Many internationally rated players in the Island took part in this event and CFSL decided to internationally rate the Super League for the first time.

The women's inter club western province event was also held parallel to Super League at the same venue. Perhaps inspired by the boys, Paul Morphy Chess Club girls team (26.5/30) powered their way to first place ahead of University of Moratuwa girls team (24/30).

Third place went to Ratnawali Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo 08 (17/30).
