Janaka heads SLTA

TENNIS: The real estate and property developer, Janaka Bogollagama,
was elected uncontested as President of the Sri Lanka Tennis Association
(SLTA) at its annual general meeting held yesterday (Saturday) at the
National Tennis Centre (NTC).
Hailing from an illustrious family in the Nikaweratiya electorate,
Bogollagama is an old boy of Ananda College who won his Public Schools
colours and fared well at Junior National Championships.
He formed his own company in 1978 and is involved in real estate and
property development mainly in the North Central and Central Province as
well as in the Gampaha and Negombo areas. He is past President of the
Kurunegala Club which post he held for 15 years. He has been
Vice-President of SLTA for 10 years and President of the North Western
Province Badminton Association (NWPBA) for 15 years.
The other office bearers (who were also uncontested) were Angelo
Patrick, Maxwell de Silva, Wasantha Wijesekera, Air Vice-Marshall (rtd)
Lalanka Pieris, Major General (rtd) Seevali Wanigasekera, Brigadier
Asoka Padeniya (Vice-Presidents) Major Shiran Abeysekera (Secretary),
Irshad Othman, Pandula Kuruppu, Captain J. D. Amaranayake, Vipul Perera
(Assistant Secretaries), Kumar Gunawardene (Treasurer), Shehan Meegama
(Assistant Treasurer), SP V. T. Sunderalingam (Ground Secretary).
