DJ Clement swings grooves at Lords

DJ Clement

T o DJ Clement the most unforgettable day in his music life, he claims, was the day he spun grooves at the past New Year's Eve celebrations, held in the Maldives. "I had a enjoyable time there and I learnt a lot of things from my stay there.

The Year 2006 was quite a fruitful year for me. At the 'Denon DJ of The year 2006' I was listed in the best 15 DJs list in Sri Lanka which was advantageous for me. I got on to the popularity band wagon which helped me. I was contracted by some Hip-Hop bands and em cees to play with them and was invited by 3 EC Crew to play with them on their concert tour.

Also, and you wouldn't believe it, I got an invitation from China to play at a DJ Exhibition", reveals a happy DJ Clement.

Now representing Dam Jam DJ's in Negombo, DJ Clement is a regular at Lords Night Club where he has a growing fan base. He started his musical career when he was in school mixing grooves as a mobile DJ. Later moved over as a club DJ dishing out the music at the Sun Set Night Club at Club Palm Village.

Now at Lords he spins the grooves of Fatboy Slim, Junior Jack, Paul Okenfole and other contemporary Club singers much to the delight of the cosmopolitan guests who patronise the night club.

Off the record DJ Clement clues us into the fact that his favourite music is Tribels and Retro of the 80's and his favourite songs You're The One That I Want and Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You which we are sure he dedicates them to someone special in his life!

However, he is still unmarried, and he celebrated his birthday on February 20.DJ Clement confesses that music is his life and would like to be in Switzerland at this moment if he could. Yet he hopes to travel to Europe to study more about light and sound engineering which are two other important aspects in the career of a DJ. Good luck to him!.

 Iolanthe from Visakhians

More than sixty students will take part in the production of Gilbert and Sullivan's Iolanthe which will go on boards at the Lionel Wendt from Thursday May 10 to Sunday May 13. This exciting two act musical is directed by Indu Dharmasena, with the musical direction by Menaka De Fonseka Sahabandu. The choreography is by Sanwada Abeysirigunawardena.

The story as we all know revolves around Iolanthe a fairy who is allowed to return after being banished for the crime of marrying a mortal. Unfortunately her half-human, half-fairy son is having some difficulty with the Lord Chancellor, who will not grant permission for him to marry Phyllis. But the fairies agree to help him, despite the opposition of the entire British Parliament.

The musical is presented by the Visakha Vidyalaya Old Girls' Association who in the recent past won acclaim for their presentation of Fiddler on the Roof and the Mouse Trap.
