A four-member Lankan delegation will represent
the country at the annual offshore Energy Conference in Houston,
Texas USA early next month to promote investment opportunities on
oil exploration in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka is seeking more investments from India
in the sectors of Information Technology, tourism, spices, leather
and ceramics. Minister of Export Development and Internal Trade
Prof. G.L.Peiris inaugurating a program on the Indo Lanka Free Trade
Agreement in Kochi said that it is high time that inhibitions and
apprehensions about Sri Lanka were shed.

Local firms second to none
Sri Lanka has a rich economic literature. Macro
Analysis is easy but at company or micro level analysis is difficult
as it is not documented. Therefore decision making is very difficult
be it for policy makers or entrepreneurs, said, Secretary, Ministry
of Internal Administration Dr Upananda Vidanapathirana. He was
speaking at the launch of the two case studies of Sri Lankan
companies by the Post Graduate Institute of Management.
