Stylish yet casual
Experience the modern interpretation of a classical bistro... the new
UBG! Stylish yet casual the new "bistro-style" UBG opened its doors
after a month long facelift. The decor is warm and avant-garde with
ambient yellow lighting to suit any mood.
Subtle changes, for instance, the earthy tones on the freshly painted
walls, the pristine white crockery and cutlery in varied shapes, or the
funky purple and orange glasses will be noticed by those who have
visited frequently, but it is the menu that really stands out. "Our
strategy is to focus on product attributes that have made us popular",
states Operations Manager, Nishan Silva, "good food, with a great
ambience".
The new a la carte menu offers a wide selection of cuisine ranging
from the best pizzas and pasta in town prepared by the Executive Chef
Kumar, a specialist in Italian cuisine to Tex-mex, Thai or Middle
Eastern for the more adventurous. For that matter, any food you might
fancy is on offer, all prepared with the finest quality ingredients.
Start your meal with a light "new age" tapas or piping hot soup
whether it be a spicy. The menu also contains a splattering of Classics
and healthy options. The Classic Caesar is a must try, although the
Tex-Mex Chicken Salad and Greek Stack compete for poll position.
The new a la carte menu, designed to cater for a meal at any time of
the day, is even able to satisfy that craving for a wholesome burger or
sandwich.
UBG's executive lunch buffet satisfies the corporate executive
looking for quick service and a very satisfying a la minute dining
experience.
Lunch whether buffet or a la carte could also be a relaxed affair if
you so wish. Catch a glimpse of the latest global stock trends as you
enter the restaurant on the plasma screen or switch off from the
stresses of the day while tucking into the revamped a la minute buffet
with a generous grill and roast section, healthy salads and soups and
diversity to suit any palate with friends, family or business
colleagues.
A highlight of the new UBG is an eight-seat teak wood feature table
with designer high back wooden chairs, which needs to be booked in
advance in case you fancy a more elaborate meal or perhaps wish to
celebrate a special occasion in style.
Kids are also most welcome at UBG and can select from their very own
"special kids menu" and enjoy soft drinks free of charge while busying
themselves with crayons and fun activities.
And, if that's not enough, enjoy the vibrant buzz of the restaurant
on a Friday night at the Union Bar while listening to the sultry tunes
of Flame.
