Thirty three new SPs
by Jayampathy Jayasinghe
Thirty-three Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) were promoted
to the rank of Superintendent of Police Grade II last week by the
National Police Commission (NPC).
The new posting for these officers will be decided on by the IGP when
the list containing the names of officers are forwarded to the IGP, a
spokesman for the NPC told the Sunday Observer. He said the selection
process was based on officers with an unblemished service record of
eight years and confirmed in their rank.
The interview panel consisted of an NPC official, one Senior DIG and
two other DIGs and the Director of Establishment of the Public
Administration Ministry. Two weeks ago 30 senior Chief Inspectors of
Police (CIS) were promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of
Police (ASP) to serve in operational areas of the North-East.
The field promotions were granted to these officers to relieve senior
ASPs from operational areas who have completed their term of engagement.
Two-hundred Tamil speaking Police Constables will be recruited
shortly to serve in the liberated areas of the Eastern Province. |
