National policy vital to check widening trade deficit - SLCSI

Sri Lanka's foreign trade deficit has grown
rapidly over the past seven years as there is no national policy to
promote exports and support local industries, said President, Sri
Lanka Chamber of Small Industries Aloy Jayawardene.

Per capita income will hit $ 5,000 with sustained growth rate -
CB Governor
The Government is targeting a GDP growth of over
8 percent next year and if that growth rate could be sustained over
the next 20 years the per capita income will hit US$ 5,000, said

Certificates, gold medals for 800 students at IBSL Convocation
Around 800 students will receive certificates,
gold medals and cash prizes at the 12th Annual Convocation of the
Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka on October 3 at the BMICH. In
addition IBSL will also offer two honorary fellowships to two senior
bankers who have made remarkable contributions to the banking
industry.
