Supporting SMEs our responsibility - Welgama
SME 2007, the Machinery Exhibition themed technology for rural micro
and SME development will conclude today at the BMICH.

Addressing the opening ceremony on Friday Industrial Development
Minister Kumar Welgama said that it is our responsibility and duty to
support the SMEs. Therefore this exhibition is very important.
Minister Welgama said that we should take the exhibition to the
provinces as the small and medium industrialists find it difficult to
come to Colombo.
A few days ago the program 'Buy Sri Lankan Be Sri Lankan' was
launched by the Mawbima Lanka Foundation to promote and strengthen local
products and industries.
He said that under the Mahinda Chinthana program we have extended the
incentives given to foreigners to local entrepreneurs as well.
President FCCISL Nawaz Rajabdeen said that next year's exhibition
will be held from September 5-7. He said that the SME sector provides
employment and helps in income generation.
The exhibition consist of machinery, anciliary equipment, processes,
methods and new technology.
The exhibition is organised by SMED in collaboration with the
Ministry of Industrial Development. The principal sponsor is People's
Bank while the print media sponsor is ANCL. The exhibition has 150
stalls. |
