Sirasa boss threatens ANCL shutterbugs
A top executive of the Sirasa television management had threatened
two Lake House photographers when they tried to take photographs of him
at a musical event organised by Sirasa at the Sugathadasa Stadium last
week.
Accoding to Photographers Geeth de Mel and Dushyantha Mayadunne were
covering the event on the invitation extended to the Lake House by
Sirasa, which is owned by the Maharaja organisation.
While the photographer was capturing the participants, the executive
had walked up to the photographer and threatened him. Later his
bodyguards had forced the photographer to delete the pictures from his
camera chip. Journalists were not informed in advance of any
restrictions on taking photographs of the MD or any other person
attending this event.
The Working Journalists Association in a press release in condemning
this act said it was unfortunate to note that the owners of Sirasa had
stooped to that level while his own channel takes a keen interest to
highlight threatsand harassment to media personnel in the recent past. |
