IFS celebrates 10 years in Lanka
IFS AB, a global leader in component based business software, often
referred to as ERP, celebrated its 10th anniversary in Sri Lanka
recently.
Since the company opened the Research and Development Centre in Sri
Lanka in 1997 it has grown to become one of the biggest software
companies in Sri Lanka and a significant part of IFS global operations.
Today the Research and Development Centre in Colombo employs over 600
Software Professionals, working with the development, support and sales
of the world leading business solution, IFS Applications.
Senior Vice President of the IFS Group, Thomas Petersson, visiting
Sri Lanka on the occasion of the anniversary said: "The R & D Centre in
Colombo is by far the largest contributor to the development and support
of IFS Applications.
We are very impressed by the high quality of the software produced by
the Sri Lanka R & D Centre and the competitiveness of our products in
the international market bears testament to the success of our Sri Lanka
operation".
IFS represents the single largest Foreign Direct Investment in the
Software Industry in Sri Lanka and it is estimated that over one billion
rupees will be invested in Research and Development during 2008.
IFS is also supporting charitable causes such as the IT training
program that has been conducted with the University of Ruhuna and the
Eastern University. In the program 265 students and 90 teachers in
schools in the Southern region and some 320 students and 45 teachers in
schools in the Eastern region of the country have been trained in
Information Technology. |
