personality, Edwin Ariyadasa is quite happy with the Government's
intention of formulating a National Media Policy for Sri Lanka. NMP
has not been formulated in the past and the appropriate moment for
formulating such a policy would have been the time that Sri Lanka
gained Independence.

Commemorating the month of Il
Though the Buddha passed away nearly 2551 years
ago after rendering a great service to man kind for forty five
years, his doctrine still exists in its pristine purity. He has left
behind thousands of followers and his teachings give them immense
relief, beckoning them to the path of Nibbana. After advising the
first sixty disciples the Buddha headed towards Uruvel Janapada to
meet the Jatila brothers-Uruvel Kassapa, Nadee Kassapa and Gaya
Kassapa. In fact the intention of his visit was to make them shed
their petty prejudices and direct them towards the path of Dhamma.

A journalist par excellence
The first death anniversary of Ajith Samaranayake:
From the echelons of an incomparable class of
individualism and inherent brilliance was the unpretentious yet
intuitively rebellious Marxist, friend and most excellent writer and
journalist Ajith Samaranayake who influenced the lives of many, the
elite and less privileged alike by his spoken and written word, a
man of a dying class, a journalist extraordinaire who left a vacuum
in the profession a year ago following his demise on November 22,
2006.
