High time to stop being adicted to the TV:
Alarm bells are ringing
TV programs, especially the chain of non-ending
teledramas have begun to play a big role in the day-to-day life of
Sri Lanka now. Most of the TV programs shown in Sri Lanka are not
meant for a particular age group. Apart from its entertainment
capability, many learned people including sociologists point out the
distortion caused by TV. This especially affect children and hinders
interaction among family members.

Saving the cinnamon industry of Sri Lanka:
Spices became a form of currency that sent
intrepid adventurers onto unknown oceans to find new places, people,
and trade routes. The Spice Route to China sucked in Marco Polo and
brought the spice trade to Europe. Christopher Columbus set out to
find the way to the source of spices and found the New World. The
Portuguese, the Dutch and the British sailed to our shores in search
of spices - especially cinnamon.

Universal accessibility a modern prerequisite:
However, little or no attention is paid to the
specific requirements of differently abled persons in constructing
and designing buildings in Sri Lanka. Perhaps, the architects would
have over looked this, assuming that almost all persons who use
public and private buildings are able-bodied men and women.
