Advanced Level examination results will be released prior to the
December school vacation and the GCE Ordinary Level examination will
begin on December 10, according to Commissioner General of Examinations,
Anura Edirisinghe.
The Commissioner General of Examinations, told the 'Sunday Observer'
that the results of the Advanced Level examination which was held in
August this year were ready to be released. The results would be out in
early December.
He said that despite the problems faced by the Department of
Examinations over the delay in paper marking due to the strike that was
staged by teachers, the paper corrections were completed on time and the
results were ready to be released.
"The agitation by teachers when the paper marking was started has not
hampered the usual marking system at all and everything went on smoothly
and the Department will release the results on time," Edirisinghe said.
Edirisinghe said two-hundred and forty-thousand students sat the
Advanced Level examination this year.
He said all arrangements were in place for the GCE Ordinary Level
examination which will be held from December 10 to 20.
Five-hundred-and-thirty-nine-thousand students are due to sit the GCE
O/L examination this year. The Commissioner General Education hoped
there won't be any problems with teachers marking papers this time for
the O/L examination like they faced during the A/L paper marking.
