Intel launches 45nm processors
The new 45nm processors by Intel were launched in Sri Lanka one week
after the worldwide launch in USA by CEO Paul Otellini.
Retail and Channel Marketing Manager, Asia Pacific Intel Technology
Asia (Pte) Ltd., Sharad Parmar said every two years we at Intel
introduce CPU architecture developed on the tick tock model:"
Built using a new transistor formula that alleviates the wasteful
electricity leaks that threaten the pace of future computer innovation
it increases computer performance and saves energy.
These processors also eliminate eco friendly lead and in 2008 halogen
materials. Regional Manager Intel Sri Lanka Indika De Zoysa said "we see
a rapid pace of technology adoption in Sri Lanka and are confident that
our customers will take advantage of the newly launched family of
processors. This launch is also proof of our commitment to delivering
the best in technology to the country as soon as products are introduced
in the international market."
He said that the new processors boast nearly twice the transistor
density of previous chips built on the company's 65nm technology that is
up to 820 mln transistors for quad core processors each using Intel's
new formula.
Called the biggest transistor advancements in 40 years by Intel co
founder Gordon Moore the processors are the first to use Intel's Hafnium
-based high-k metal gate (Hi-k) formula for the hundreds of millions of
transistors inside these processors. These Intel Core 2 Extreme and Xeon
processors are also the first to be manufactured on the company's 45
nanometer (nm) manufacturing process further boosting performance and
lowering power consumption.
Combining these two advancements with the new processor features
enables Intel to continue delivering faster and more energy efficient
processors that are better for the environment.
