The gift

A birthday gift I did receive
From my spouse, so thoughtful and kind,
Triumphantly bearing a box large and square,
He claimed it was a unique find,
Grabbing the offering, happily surprised,
You should not have bothered,
I shamelessly lied,
For I had been eyeing a certain blouse,
And my curiosity was fully aroused,
Tore off the wrappings, what did emerge,
Was a riot of colours, a violent splurge,
Now I am a woman of simple tastes,
No trimmings for me, no ribbons, no lace.
I held it up for a better look,
I felt faint as my hands shook,
Purple and crimson with splotches of green,
The gaudiest garment that I'd ever seen,
Shimmering and shiny with buttons of gold,
Clingy and silky, to my bulk it would mould.

He waits for approval, what else can I say?
Thank you, my darling; you've really made my day.

Swan song

Snowy feathers
Collapse feebly
Dew drops parched
A reflection of my soul
Frozen water
Smothers the being.
Wind howls in pain.
Majestic faŘade of mine
Disintegrating bit by bit
Nothing inside me
Only a hollow
Froth-like feathers covering them
All these dragging years
Now I should quit
For the glory to be mine
Moment has come
A voice from another world calls me
Weeping in pain To the dying wish
I give vent
Oh! Let the day be mine
Mine only and you be mine.

Ferrari wreck

Screech!
Rubber burns
I see the driver
Speed-drunk
Adrenaline blazing
Through black eyes
The car is a beauty
Black, a feline demon
The Ferrari logo
Blazes on her bonnet
The engine roars
Defiant to the end.
A cab jumps out of the blue
Of a junction
'tween Lotus and Main;
A tiny white cab
And in it, a passenger
Weary from her toil.
Office has taken its toll.
The black Ferrari roars;
Its great rubbers screech.
There is a crash,
A shockwave
A churning of world.
And when the metal stops I see the driver.
Blood trickles
Over black dead eyes
Above the screams, the engine roars
Defiant to the very end.

The dance

It was a dance- rhythmical.
Two dancers in perfect harmony...
With the music - outside a torrent.
The window cold and hard...
Against the back of my arm.
He led, I followed, he dipped me.
He swung me backwards and forwards...
Until I was elated with ecstasy.
Finally the crescendo.
The music stopped - torrent subdued.
Lulled us to sleep.
With a soft diminuendo.

Togetherness

Much can be achieved with hearts, souls and minds put together
Rather than led astray in various directions of hope.
Yet, tough and slow the road may be
For many minds and hearts vary.
Compromising, yet maintaining ground.
Sacrifice.
