Soysa helps SSC win easily

CRICKET: A deadly spell of bowling by Nuwan Soysa who claimed 6 for 14 enabled SSC to register a comfortable 9 wickets win over Colts CC in their Premier Trophy limited over match played at Havelock Park yesterday.

Colts were dismissed at a low total of 68 runs in 27.3 overs. Nuwan Kulasekera was the only batsman to reach double figures 23.

Soysa returned a remarkable figures of 10 overs 4 maidens 6 wickets for 14 runs. Sachitra Senanayake captured 2 for 7.

SSC hit the required runs 71 for 1 only in 12 overs losing Tharanga Paranavithana for 13. Nuwan Soysa also batted well to be unbeaten on 22 while Kaushal Silva remained unbeaten on 18.

Colts: 68 (N. Kulasekera 23, N. Soysa 6 for 14, S. Senanayake 2 for 7)

SSC: 71 for 1 (N. Soysa 18 n.o., K. Silva 18 n.o.).

Bloomfield crush Badureliya

Bloomfield batsmen fashioned a fine 134 run victory over Badureliya SC in their Rupavahini Premier limited overs cricket match played at Reid Avenue yesterday. Chinthaka Jayasinghe fired an unbeaten 44 while Saman Jayantha (38), T.M.Dilshan 24 and Ashan Priyanjana (32) doing the bulk of the scoring.

Badureliya SC were shot out for 122 in 30.1 overs with T.M.Sampath top scoring with 50.

Bloomfield: 256 for 8 in 50 overs (Chinthaka Jayasinghe 44 n.o., Saman Jayantha 38, T.M.Dilshan 24, Ashan Priyanjana 32, S.Gangodawila 28, Shanuka Dissanayake 26, Matheesha Ranasinghe 26 n.o., L. Dias 2 for 34, T.M.Sampath 2 for 47)

Badureliya SC: 122 in 30.1 over (T.M.Sampath 50, M.Ranasinghe 3 for 28, T.Laksitha 3 for 32).

Easy for NCC

Tharaka Kottehewa (5 for 35) helped NCC to beat CCC by 7 wickets in their Rupavahini Premier Limited overs cricket tournament at Maitland Crescent yesterday.

CCC: 102 in 33.4 overs (Amila Wettasinghe 25, Nuwan Perera 25 n.o., T. Kottehewa 5 for 35, Udara Waruna 2 for 14).

NCC: 105 for 3 in 25 overs (Rikki Wessells 46, Kosala Kulasekera 29 n.o., Nisitha Rupasinghe 2 for 25).
