Wins presidential Gold Award for handicraft

The Creation which won the Presidential Gold Award at the Shilpa
2007 National Handicrafts exhibition. This intricately carved
brass tray was created by D.B. Premarathna of Ukuwela under the
metal-based category.

D.B. Premarathna of Ukuwela, Matale won the overall first prize and
bagged the presidential Gold Award for his creation, on intricately
carved brass tray, submitted under the metal-based handicraft category
at the Shilpa 2007 National Handicrafts exhibition which concluded at
the BMICH recently.
He beat nearly 1,500 excellent creations which vied at the
exhibition.
The Shilpa 2007 national exhibition was jointly organised by the
National Crafts Council and the Ceylon Industrial Development Board
under the direction of the Rural Industries and Self-Employment
Promotion Ministry. |
