It's snow fall time in the country

Without doubt it is exiting and novel to experience for people living in a tropical country like Sri Lanka to experience the freezing sensation of snow this Christmas. Excel world is going to pour snow; the one and only snow show in Sri Lanka.

This is the fifth consecutive time. The Director/CEO at Excel World, R. Wijenathan wanted to take the challenge and implement a novel idea which emanated from his mind five years ago in 2003 but was a little hesitant to work towards that goal because many people gave a negative feed back when he expressed his idea.

"Really when I came up with this new idea many people said that it will be risky and I will lose business. People won't be interested in snow since it's alien to Sri Lanka. But with the saying of Tom Peter, "Unless you walk out into the unknown, the odds of making a difference in your life are pretty low", in mind, I started walking into the unknown to make it known to people".

There has never been such a wonderful snow show in Sri Lanka before 2003. Wijenathan said he had some equivocal thoughts toward the programme and wondered how people would perceive such a novel phenomena.

"I wanted to give something new to people. That's why I started this kind of programme. I see it's now a very popular entertainment programme in the country. The number of people coming into the snow dome to feel the excitement of snow have increased year by year. I believe the odd thing I wanted to do five years ago has now become a success".

This time the snow show will be envisaged with various competitions and promotions. Targeting especially the kids, the snow show commenced from December 8 to January 8.

Show times are scheduled from Monday to Thursday 6.30 p.m., 8 p.m., and 9.30 p.m. From Friday to Sunday there will be four shows from 6 p.m., 8 p.m., 9.30 p.m. and 10.30 p.m. The Giant Christmas Tree in the country will be on display at Excel world this Christmas too.

During the snow show in the 'Dome' with a unique facility which can accommodate over five hundred people will be full of fun and entertainment with DJ music, concerts, live bands, Karoke and dancing competitions. The event co - ordination and the decorations are done by the MD of Bench Mark Strategies, Mahesh Senanayake.

The Director of Excel world R.Wijenathan is the Secretary of CIM in Sri Lanka a chartered marketer and a registered professional marketer, Canada. He is a Royalist, rugerrite and was the captain of CH and FC rugby team. His sporting skills has been the influence of starting a place of such entertainment.
