New light shed on Nugegoda bomb blast

Contrary to the reports that appeared in the newspapers regarding the bomb blast at the Nugegoda junction on November 28, the subsequent inquiry conducted by the Nugegoda Police Division had revealed that Kohuwela Police station received a phone call regarding the suspicious parcel at 5.52 p.m. according to a media release issued by the police Headquarters.

According to a statement made by a police officer at the Kohuwela police station the phone call was received by them at 5.59 P.M. and not half and hour earlier as reported in some newspapers.

This was subsequently revealed at a press conference held on the topic of national security of the country, states the release. (JJ)
