Violet Yakandawala - first woman in Visually Handicapped Cricket Association

CRICKET: An unique occurrence took place at the 10th annual general meeting of the Sri Lanka Cricket Association of the Visually Handicapped held recently, as a lady was appointed as Assistant Secretary for the first time in the history of the association.

Mrs. Violet Yakandawala came in as Assistant Secretary.

The Association has received an invitation from Nepal for a team of visually handicapped women cricketers to visit Nepal and the Sri Lanka cricket Association of the Visually Handicapped are now making preparations to make the visit to Nepal a reality. The following office-bearers were elected:

Patrons: Mr. Arjuna Ranatunge, Mr. Merrill J. Fernando, Mr. Anwer Dole, Mr. E. M. Navaratna, (J.P.) - Reappointed and Mr. Alex M. Jayawardena.

President: Rienzie Benedict (re-elected)
