Rice prices will stabilise soon - Secretary
There is no scarcity of rice in Sri Lanka and
with the completion of the harvest for the Maha season the prices
will be stable, said Secretary, Ministry of Trade Marketing

Traders up in arms against fixed rice prices
Traders are not willing to sell rice at the
prices fixed by the government since it is totally unprofitable and
that they are losing heavily on the old stocks, market sources said.

Imprudent policies will hit poultry industry
Chairman of the AIPA Dr. D. D. Wanasinghe said
that the poultry industry in Sri Lanka is in a serious crisis due to
lack of government support and imprudent policies. The industry has
been on the decline since 2005 and as a result 25% of small farmers
have closed their ventures.
