Wrap - a sports magazine for all...
BOOK REVIEW: Wrap. This is the latest magazine to hit the bookshops
in the country, edited by veteran sports writer Srian Obeysekere. It
contains nearly 100 pages in glossy newsprint and numerous colour
pictures.
This impressive inaugural issue is to be published once in two months
and contains articles on nearly all sports including Cricket, Rugby,
Tennis, Boxing and Martial Arts with some interesting features and
interviews on local and overseas stars.
Some of the contributors include foreign writers in the calibre of
Kuldip Lal, Ashley Mallett, Hugh Burroughs and M. Yagi, while the local
list includes veteran cricket writer Sa’adi Thawfeeq, Pelham Juriansz,
Roy Silva, Chaminda Saman Kumara, Tyrell Peiris, Jatila Karawita, S.
Solomons, Sean Mackay, Rohan Zilwa and the Editor-in-Chief Srian
Obeysekere himself.
Among the interesting articles containing in the April issue is one
on the conflict in Cricket by Sa’adi Thawfeeq, interviews with Muttiah
Muralitharan, the genius of Sachin Tendulkar and V.V.S. Laxman, views on
Twenty-20 cricket, another piece on Kumar Sangakkara, articles on local
tennis players Amritha Muttiah, Jithmi Jayawickreme and Sanka Athukorale
and many more. Apart from sports, the magazine also contains articles on
Health, Travel and Entertainment - that wraps it all.
