Opportunity for Lankans to study at London City College

London City College (LCC) set up in 1982 has become one of the best known colleges of further and higher education in the UK. As an institution, it has been accredited by the British Accreditation Council (BAC) since 1988, meeting all the academic, administrative and financial requirements of efficient academic institutions.

London City College’s accreditation by the British Accreditation Council (BAC) offers a significant reference to the quality of the institution and the acceptance of the qualifications worldwide.

The College, in addition to a variety of professional and academic qualifications in business and management also includes specialist qualifications in Shipping and Transport Management offered through one of the LCC’s school.

To provide an opportunity to Sri Lankan students to study towards a recognised qualification in their desired field, representatives from the London City College will be visiting Sri Lanka to interview potential students for the September 2008 entry. Interviews will be conducted by Tevor Peck, a Senior Professor of LCC at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel on Sunday, May 4.

The London Institute of Shipping and Transport (LIST) was established in 1983 to provide specialist training to students interested in pursuing the shipping and transport industries. LIST is also accredited by the British Accreditation Council (BAC) and successful students can progress from introductory/Foundation courses to Bachelor’s Degree level courses, offered by British and American Universities.

Students benefit from the skilled tuition provided by the experienced faculty who have had first-hand experience in the shipping industry.


London City College

In addition to qualifications awarded by external bodies, London City College and the London Institute of Shipping and Transport, offer various programs internally examined, externally moderated qualifications such as Diploma in Business Administration, Diploma in International Business Management, Diploma in Advertising and Public Relations Practice, Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management, Diploma in Shipping Management, Diploma in Transport Management, Postgraduate Diploma in Shipping Management.

The College’s primary educational objective is to provide courses to students, which will prepare them thoroughly for a variety of vocational/business careers.

The College Code of Practice is principally designed to ensure that of this objective is realised.

All courses are carefully selected and designed to enable successful students to progress through the different academic levels and obtain appropriate qualifications at each stage.
