Six women who had suffered a lot of problems at the hands of their husbands, children and at last the society, got together to cast aside solitude, loneliness and mental unrest. They made of their minds to live together under one roof so as to spend the rest of their lives happily. The new set-up enabled them to have a deep insight into their lives.

Dorothy Nugawela, the middle aged woman who moved in the high society seeks divorce from her husband, Douglas Nugawela.

Irene, another middle-aged woman who was seduced during her youth by the lover began to abhor men since then and resolved to remain unmarried forever.

As a friend of Dorothy, she who also joined the new “middle-aged women’s union”! Seeking solace the foursome Greta Perera, Eugine Fairweather and Padmini Subramaniam, also join Dorothy’s union. Sujatha Nungamuwa arrives in a wheel-chair with her husband, Bandara Nungamuwa.

The lives of these seven women under a single roof become at times fainted with humour, satire, jealousy and a host of problems.

Finally they realized that the elimination of selfishness is the key to a happy life. Similarly for a woman life is not possible without care, love and security of a husband, they understood. This is only a particular dimension of a problem which has gripped the society today.
