New Opera House opening in Norway

Kalasuri Arunthathy Sri Ranganathan, the creative head and director
of Aru Sri Art theatre has been invited to direct a dance act at the
opening ceremony of the new Opera House in Oslo - Norway on 27th April
2008 illustrating the multi-ethnic society of Norway.
Mrs. A. Sri Ranganathan has produced and directed many popular
multi-cultural programmes which emphasises unity in diversity and well
receives by the masses.Two veteran Sri Lankan dancers the versatile
Bharathanatyam dancer, Mr. Saravanapava Guhendran and Diana Grey the
talented dancer from Kulasiri Budawatte Dance academy will be performing
at the show.
Along with them, Sinhala and Tamil dancers who are living in Norway,
Indian and Norwegian dancers will join in this performance, which will
be directed by Arunthathy.
When Norway is celebrating the 100th year of the veteran Composer
Edverd Greig, it is most fitting that this dance performance will be
choreographed for Edverd Greig’s music, which will be performed live by
the symphony orchestra at this grand event.
Meanwhile Ms. Camilla Jonstang - Soprano, the veteran vocalist from
Norway will be giving a vocal concert on 5th May at 6 p.m. and work shop
on 6th May 2008 at 6 p.m., at the German Cultural Centre, 39, Gregory’s
Road, Colombo 7.

She will be accompanied by Ms. Menaka Sahabandu on piano.Camilla has
performed widely in Norway and Russia and at numerous International
music festivals. She has performed together with reputed orchestras such
as Oslo Camerata, The St. Petersburg Soloists and The Royal Norwegian
Marines Music Corps. Camilla is also in great demand as Church concert
soloist.
She has a wide repertoire of music by Handel Mozart to the more
dramatic R. Strauss and S. Rakhmaninov.
Kalasuri Arunthathy Sri Ranganathan the director of Aru Sri Art
theatre says, that the work shop will be useful for western music
students oriental music students and music lovers to learn about voice
modulation, singing techniques, breathing practices, improving the
performing ability etc.
There will be a work shop for the undergraduates of the University of
Visual and Performing Arts on 6th May morning.
Admission is free. These events are funded by the Royal Norwegian
Embassy, supported by Goethe Institute Colombo and organised by Aru Sri
Art theatre.
