Ceylinco Fingara clinch MCA Premier League Title

Two bright half centuries from Sanjeeva Weerasinghe (55 with 5 fours
and 3 sixes) and Malintha Gajanayake (60 with 3 fours 1 six) enabled
Ceylinco Fingara to emerge champions for the first time defeating
Sampath Bank by 2 wickets in the final of the 15th Singer MCA Premier
League Knockout cricket tournament played at Colts grounds yesterday.
Match reduced to 45 overs commenced at 10.30 a.m. due to bad ground
condition and Sampath Bank batting first made 198 off 43.5 overs with
Dilhara Lokuhettige top scoring with quick fire 50 in 51 balls which
included 3 fours and 3 sixes.
Hasantha Fernando (40) and skipper Jeevan Mendis (31) made useful
contributions to help swell the score. Paceman Chanaka Welagedera bowled
best to claim 3 for 24.
Ceylinco Fingara requiring 199 for victory at asking rate of 4.06 per
over scored 199 for 8 in 47.1 overs. Marvan Atapattu stroked a fine 20
meanwhile Sanjeeva Weerasinghe, Malintha Gajanayake together with
Sacithra Senanayake with unbeaten 21 helped Ceylinco Fingara to achieve
victory.
