MASL signs MoU with Japan Water Agency
The Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka signed a MoU with the Japan Water
Agency, a leading institution of the Government of Japan, on the
Twinning Program to exchange personnel from their regular staff to
strengthen the capacity of Integrated Water Resources Management through
continuous sharing of information and experience.
Eng. Ivan de Silva, Director General of the Mahaweli Authority and
Toshiki Aoyama, President of the Japan Water Agency and Dr. Ir.
Mochammad Amron, Chairperson of NARBO signed the MoU in Singapore
recently.
Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Services and T. M. Abeywickrama,
Secretary to the Ministry approved this new initiative of MASL. Eng.
Sudharma Elakanda will act as the program coordinator for the twinning
arrangement.
According to the MoU the Mahaweli Authority will send three officers
from their regular staff to JWA to work with them for three weeks and
JWA will follow the same practice and send their regular official to
share experience with MASL.
As a first step JWA has already planned to send their three senior
engineers to MASL shortly. |
